Baxter and Jeff are Older

I must say, so much has happened in the past month.  I'm trying to cover at least four posts with this one, so here comes a long one!

Baxter:
What a little angel this guy is.  We had his two month pediatrician appointment today.  He's still growing like a weed.  A chubby little weed.  He's 14lb, 12 oz currently (97th percentile) and 24" long (80-something %, I can't remember and the doctor didn't write it down.  I mean, I'm a paying customer - can't you provide us with meeting minutes or something? jeez).

We are getting tons of smile now and not just the face contorted "I'm pooping" kind of ones.  He's also started cooing and babbling.  When he does it and it gets your attention he totally smiles afterwards.  Love it.

I was ready for a baby trying to pee on me while changing.  Baxter saw that and raised it.  While changing a #2 he decide he wasn't finished.  No biggie, I'll wait kiddo.  Clean diaper on and THEN comes the water spout.  Damn, grabbing paper towels and I realize he's started spitting up a little.  Seriously B?  Judgment call, onesie is already ruined so I ignore the spit up and continue moping up the changing table around him.  Baxter disagreed.  He friggin sneezed something major and since his mouth was still half full of formula it sprayed all over my face (and glasses!).   That was the worst changing experience ever but it was still pretty fcking hilarious.  I just left him sitting there for a minute to take a face time photo of myself in all of my new daddyhood glory.  Not posting it tho!

Kids this cute can get away with ANYTHING!

I'm a little scared to post this because we were informed (by a bitchy friend that may not have been so great with her babies ;) that straight women everywhere HATE gay guys like us when they hear this crap.  Baxter is totally sleeping through the night.  Like, every night.  It started around week 7.  Jeff and I both woke up close to six and started freaking out thinking something was wrong.  Nope, this kid just hibernates!  Every night we wake him for his last bottle at 11pm.  He sleeps until somewhere between 6 and 7.  Not always sleeping that long though - I'll hear him cooing and goofing around in that crib on the baby monitor for 15 to 30 minutes sometimes before he calls for the Dads.  We never let him sleep past 7, if he goes until 7 we wake him up for a bottle.

Hey you're supposed to be burping, not sleeping!

He's pretty laid back at restaurants.  Here's Jeff with an alternate use of the sun hat: beer shield :)

Work:
I dropped a big ass bomb on my partners at the firm and told them I wasn't coming back.  Via e-mail.  Aaaakk!  So professional!!  I was so nervous and just had to get it out there.  They still don't fully get it.  They want me to come in for a face to face discussion and blah blah something about developing a strategy on how the firm can move forward without fully losing my skill set.  Reminds me that I should reply to their email! :)

Jeff's work is super busy.  This is funny:  The president of his board asked if we had any luck finding a boarding school that takes infants!  She was joking about that but was 100% seriously shocked when Jeff told her we don't have a nanny.  He's all, "um, well yeah, I told you Kevin's home full time, remember?" and she's all "I don't mean a live-in, but he must need someone there with him during the day."  Gotta love the Georgetown socialites ;)  Different friggin planet for sure!  To be honest, I'd love 2-3 gym breaks during the week, but once our guy is 3 months old my gym has FREE BABY SITTING.  Talk about motivation to work out!!!

I caught Baxter impersonating how Jeff looks on a Monday morning before leaving to work

Visitors:
Wow we've had a lot.  Let's just say brothers and sisters are SO MUCH more helpful and less stressful than parents.  I mean, give us some credit, clearly we're doing a pretty fantastic job with this little man.  Can everything we do really be second guessed / wrong?  I'll stop writing in case Jeff happens to read this far down and I get my ass in trouble.

Aunt KK's 2nd visit in a month!

Vacay:
We are off for the beach tomorrow!  I'm so excited to get out of this house for a few Days.  Jeff's brother is stationed on the Eastern Shore of the Del / Mar /VA peninsula in a great vacation rental.  We're going to go crash with him for a while.  I promise I won't tan my baby :)  But Daddy is coming home BROWN.  And look out - he's ready for a margarita!

We were able to go spend the day at our friends' place on the Chesapeak Bay last weekend.  That was a nice get away and Bay Bridge traffic was pretty easy.

Can you believe this is their yard??

We are going to visit the crazy, I mean my family, in Miami over Labor Day.  Mom and Dad just moved into a new house with a pool and hot tub over looking a golf course.  Yay!  I give my parents shit about never wanting to visit us until we had a baby.  Mom fires back : "Ten years in Wisconsin and you visited once. We move back to Miami and a month later you bought tickets."  True dat.

Senior Citizen:
Today is Jeff's birthday!!!  HBD2THEJEFF!!  He finally joins me at 36.  I'm officially not robbing the cradle for the next 9 months!

Ok two more:

Best buds

If you pinch him hard enough he'll cry like this.  Just kidding!  Although it's so adorable when he does that you almost want to try it.

Cheers-
K

  9. Straight women may not hate you, but gay guys might for saying your baby is sleeping that long. My kids are four months old and still waking constantly. I'll have a blog entry about that soon. Grrrrr!

  12. That adorable baby is a chunk. If I didn't know better this straight woman might think that you were nursing him every 20 minutes.
